Adding & Taking Away

Adding to and taking from small groups, with real objects first.

Why is the Pre-K 3 book counter mats instead of worksheets?

Because at three, adding means moving real things. Put two crackers down, add one more, count again. A worksheet turns that into a picture, which is a step ahead of where they are. So the Pre-K 3 pages are mats you set real counters on.
